My profile

As I child I was read to well past the normal age of being read to. To this day reading a book, any book is a struggle for me as I am dyslexic. However, my love of books is as deeply ingrained in my character as my dyslexic traits. My parents taught me never to allow my dyslexia to hold me back and to be proud. My parent knew more about dyslexia than most as they publish and sell special needs books for a living. They always helped me as such my mother would read me the childhood classics. I grew up listening to Peter Rabbit, Heidi and Anne of Green Gables. As I grew older my parents bought me audiobooks, I would listen to Catherine Fisher’s oracle series and Series of unfortunate Events on cassette tape then CDs as the later books came out. Audiobooks were something of a miracle for me as I learn best by listening. As I listen books truly came alive for me.

I still did and do read and am also a huge re-read because each time I read a book I often discover new facets of understanding. Jonathan Stroud’s Bartimaeus trilogy is probably the book I have read more times than any other with Harry Potter making a close second. Birthday and Christmas gifts were always the full audio collection of Jane Austen or Little Women. Now I have an audible membership and my library grows monthly. Audiobooks have allowed me as an adult to enjoy complex reads that I never would as been able to grasp and enjoy as actual books. Such as George R.R Martin’s Song of Ice and Fire and the Expanse series. I will never stop reading or buying actual books but just like Shakespeare’s plays are meant to be performed for me books are meant to be listened to.

My love of making up stories is another practice that dates back to my childhood but it was not till many years later that I began to write down some of the stories in my head. My passion for storytelling took me to Bolton University where I studied creative writing. There I learn the technique and discipline required for my craft. However, they were not truly put to use until the idea for Kingdoms for Parvery came to me. I have filled notebooks, drawn sketches, invented names and places, built a whole world and most important written daily to complete this work. This first book has been redrafted, edited and checked multiple times and I am in the process of doing the same for the other books that will follow in this collection.

As the word collection would clearly suggest there are more books to come in the kingdom of Parvery series. My current thinking is there will be four or five titles but until I have written the final page, I can’t be sure of the final number.
Already I have written the next two books and am currently editing them. The second book is now released. I am currently just beginning to write the fifth book and it may be some time before I have a completed first draft to edit. My plans for other different novels are at various written and unwritten stages which I hope to work on in time.
When I am creating a fantasy world, I find it best to keep myself emersed in one land at a time so for now, my focus will be solely on Parvery until I reach the completion of the collection. However, I will keep you updated with more writing news as I create it. I am of the firm belief that a writer knows when they have written the final chapter or last page and when to move on to the next project. I am not there yet I am happy to say. So I hope you will come on this journey with me and that you enjoy reading as much as I enjoyed writing this book.
